Co-Drivers Share Cockpit of Miss Boat Electric Hydroplane

The ’07 racing season is underway with some exciting changes at the helm of the UL72. For the first time in ULHRA history, a woman will be a regular season (co-)driver of an Unlimited Light hydroplane. She is 19 year old Kayleigh Perkins of Black Diamond, WA and she will share the cockpit with veteran driver Patrick Haworth, of Valleyfield, Quebec, in what promises to be a very exciting race season.

Last year Kayleigh tested in the UL72 at the final ‘06 race in Port Angeles, WA with a top lap speed of 96 MPH. She comes up from the Lighter Than Lights class of race boats which she has raced for the past 3 years.

Kayleigh is still excited over the "amazing opportunity" to drive the UL72 which has won the National Title 3 times and finished in 2nd place for four years.

Co- driver, Patrick Haworth has driven to several victories in the UL72 while co-driving with Phil Bononcini in 2002 and 2003. Patrick will step into the cockpit for his first race in his hometown of Valleyfield and will return to the West Coast for several local races also.

The 1st Western Washington race will be at Lake Sammamish on June 9th and 10th. If you’re unable to attend, you can watch it live on the web at: www.ulhra.org where there will be streaming video from the race course.
