What does this
mean? "500

80% DOD"
This means that a battery with this rating
should give you
over 500 discharge and recharge cycles,
at a
discharge current of 1/3 of battery capacity
with a
depth of
discharge of 80%.
After 500 cycles the capacity of the battery will be about 80% of the new rating.
As an example, you have a new battery rated at 100ah, you discharged it at
33.3 amps (1/3 of rated amp hours) until the battery had only 20ah remaining, then recharged per the
manufacturers instructions. After about 500 of these cycles the battery capacity should
be about 80ah.
