Notice of Product Recall
Blue Sea Systems T-1 Circuit Breakers

The following circuit breakers pictured below are subject to a voluntary manufacturer recall.
The T-1 Circuit Breakers were sold between August 2001 and May 2003.

Please follow the steps outlined below.

Risk
  • The potential safety defect may create a fire risk if the circuit breaker handle is held in the "on" position after the unit has tripped and the circuit breaker contacts weld together. If the contacts weld and if the short circuit is not corrected, heat may be generated that may damage attached or adjacent wiring and create a risk of fire. Blue Sea Systems is not aware of any fires resulting from this product or any failures in the field from this failure mode, however, the potential safety defect exists.

Interim Operation Limitations Before Replacement

The risk of contact welding can be reduced, but not eliminated, if the following operating limitations are used, however, the T-1 Circuit Breaker must be replaced as soon as practical:
  • If the T-1 Circuit Breaker should trip before being replaced as part of this recall, do not reset the T-1 Circuit Breaker until it is verified that the overload current has been corrected
  • Do not use the T-1 Circuit Breaker as a switch
  • USCG recall campaign No. 030062T requires the replacement of the circuit breaker as soon as possible

Distributors, manufacturers, and dealers, please contact Blue Sea Systems directly.
Owners of T-1 Circuit Breakers, follow these steps for replacement

The part number and serial number of the circuit breaker are required for replacement. It can be found in the lower right corner of the label on the circuit breaker (see illustration below). Once the part number and serial number have been obtained, click here to request your replacement. It may take up to 6 weeks to receive your substitute circuit breaker so please follow the "Interim Operation Limitations" above.
